A lovely small Georgian pewter salt cellar or open spice pot. Petite, with a wide bowl sitting on a flared foot, it has nice proportions and has clearly seen a lot of use. It has numerous small dings to the misshapen rim and base. Two small unrepaired splits to the top rim which are entirely consummate with the age and reflect the fragility of the piece. Despite its busy history it is a pleasure to hold and have sat on a desk. I can see no maker's marks, stamps or other engravings.
Standing just under 2 inches/48mm tall with an upper rim diameter around 2 ½ inches, 60mm.
