Purveyors of Curios, Collectables & Fine Tat

A large Art Deco Beswick Jardiniere, in a wonderful dreamy drip-glaze turquoise/blue and beige sand colourway. These were skillfully produced in the 1930s by Bewsick of Stoke On Trent. It is large in size with a strong ribbed body and enhanced with stylish geometric raised motifs.

This very stylish jardiniere planter was produced to display a large plant in a chic Art Deco home. Despite its utilitarian purpose it has survived wonderfully well and is crack and knock free. It obviously has signs of wear more so to the interior. The exterior still retains a wonderful luster and dreamy coloured drip-glaze. With only a few minor blemishes and very light surface scratches.

I'm pleased to report that it has a chip-free rim with only a couple of small chips of little significance to the foot of the base, the largest being 15mm long and shown in picture number 8 and would be very difficult to spot when on display.

All in all a beautiful and stylish piece ready for display or for fulfilling its original purpose as a planter.

It has "made in England" and also the design numbers "378/1" boldly stamped to the base.

Oddly the Beswick stamp hasn't survived and is no longer present.

Measuring;

8 1/2 inches or 213mm tall.

9 1/2 inches or 242mm in diameter at the top.

6 1/2 inches or 170mm in diameter at the base.
