Kym was a German coffee grinder manufacturer noted for its high-quality coffee bean grinding machines, which were capable of producing very finely ground coffee. This wall-mounted coffee grinder was very popular in the 1930s. The coffee beans were placed into the Hopper, the handle was rotated, and just enough ground coffee fell into the glass receptacle, which was the ideal size for a perfect cup of coffee. Mounted on a wooden Backboard, the coffee grinder consists of a ceramic bowl or Hopper and a cast iron geared grinding mechanism above a clear glass receptacle.
This grinder is in wonderful original condition. The ceramic hopper is free from chips or cracks. The crank handle has some surface rust and pitting, and the paint on the surface of the grinding mechanism has some crazing. A little paint retouching has also been noted here. it remains free from damage. Please see the detailed photographs.
Overall, it's in wonderful condition. It looks wonderful on display and would easily be put back to use preparing coffee beans. It may originally have had a cork stopper or a wooden cap on top of the hopper. Amazingly, it still retains its original Kim manufacturer's label.
It measures just over 12 inches in length by 4 3/4 inches wide, or 300 mm by 120mm.
UK shipping is included in the price. Collection from Derby is welcome.
