A lovely and nicely detailed Victorian or Edwardian Pewter Tea Pot. I really like this tea pot and have owned it a number of years. It has a pleasing lustre which sets off the hammered floral decoration. It wears its signs of use and age very nicely. It still functions as it should despite its years, the hinges on the lid are in perfect order which allow it to close precisely. The handle is firm and solidly attached.
Pewter is a soft Alloy and therefore this old piece has numerous indentations to its body. I think they add to its charm.
Despite a small ancient repair to the foot, it still holds water and is clean internally, so it could be used for its original purpose if the need arose.
Clearly hallmarked to the bottom which would be an interesting voyage of discovery should you wish to delve deeper into the year of manufacture etc.
Standing 6 1/2 inches/165mm tall with a total length of 11 inches, 275mm.
