The impressive “Champion Racer 301” tin plate Japanese racing car. Manufactured by the Masudaya toy company of Japan. Bearing the trade mark of Modern toys and the patent numbers: 70819, 67160. 

This large toy is in great, unmolested condition for its age and comes from my personal collection. The overall patina is very pleasing and better than pictured. Totally original pillar box red paintwork and lithograph detailing, it has clearly never been the victim of a damp environment which is rare, as many of these racing cars were played with outdoors. There is however light fading to one side, the chrome work is original and untouched and shows some light pitting. The wheels turn freely, there is no evidencs of corrosion in the battery compartment and there are no loose, cracked or insecure parts.

Sadly, the windshield and the drivers head are missing, the pull cord is present but no longer moves, so there is work to be done to bring this rare toy back to working condition. 

An exciting opportunity to restore or enjoy this great looking racing car left as it is. There is no box included in the sale, only the racing car.

It measures 18 inches in length and stands to a height of 4 inches or, 460mm x 100mm.
