We are excited to announce that this superb mill wheel has been sold and is now embarking on the next phase of its journey. A wide selection of industrial and architectural pieces is always available.
Once part of one of Richard Arkwright's Textile Mills in the Derwent Valley of Derbyshire, home of the Industrial Revolution, this wonderful early line shaft pulley is in beautiful, original condition, with minimal signs of wear despite being at least 150 years old. Arkwright's Mills were originally powered by diverting the path of the river Derwent to large water wheels that drove line shafts to his weaving looms.
It is a beautifully made piece that has seen decades of use but still looks unworn. It has now taken on a beautiful, deep, and elegant patina.
It would look great in any setting, especially a period mill cottage or a modern office environment.
This pulley wheel has excellent provenance as it came directly from the Mills Museum archives. It only required a light clean and a coat of protective wax to set it off.
This pulley measures an impressive 19 inches or 48cm in diameter.
Has a centre bore around 21/2 inches of and is 71/2 inches wide or 19cm
It weighs 26Kg.
