We are excited to announce that this superb copper roof vent has been sold and is now embarking on the next phase of its journey. A wide selection of vintage architectural pieces is always available.
A magnificent Victorian Copper roof vent, manufactured by Ewarts and sons of Euston Road, London, who were obviously so proud of their wares that they fixed two flamboyant name plaques to it.
I’ve not owned this for long but when I saw it I just had to have it. A fabulous and imposing centre piece for the garden or potager with lots of natural character and deep jade coloured Verdigris from years of exposure to the elements.
Despite it’s functional purpose it was made with real elegance and skillfull craftsmanship. Handmade around the turn of the 1900s, in a style that was meant to add beauty to the building it was adorning, it is one complete unit constructed of individual, solid sheets of copper, rolled, folded and riveted together. It remains in amazing condition and would still fulfill the purpose it was intended for.
It obviously has knocks and dents from use but nothing that detracts from its amazing presence. All of the copper rivets are present and holding firm there are no structural flaws that I can see. Some old paint and dings to the base which I have left as is. A rare find that I will be very reluctant to see leave my garden.
This roof vent stands an impressive 48 inches tall (including the small wooden plinth). The base is 16 inches square, and the witch's hat's largest diameter is 21 inches. Or 122cm x 40cm x 53 cm
