A substantial and original ships light. Manufactured out of copper and brass by Eli Griffiths and Sons Ltd of Birmingham, England. It has a makers plaque bearing their name and the number799A. Unlike many vintage ships' lights on offer for sale, I believe that this incredible light has spent many years at sea and if it could talk would have an amazing story to tell. 

I've left it in as found condition for the buyer to decide on its future, it could be polished up to reveal its original colours or left as is. Despite its numerous knocks and dings, it is still in very solid condition, a true testimony to its renowned British manufacturer's build quality. The large screw down lid still fits secureley though a little stiff and shows some surface rust to the underside, The original water sealant mastic is tired and needs replacing. It has an electrical light fitting in its base that looks original but is now unserviceable. The base, though secure is in need of resoldering along the seams and there are several chips to the glass reflector, however the glass lens is so thick and robust that these have no bearing on its structural integrity and add to the vintage look.

Forgiving its faults, this is a real architectural treasure. It would be an impressive and unique feature hung outside a beach or waterfront property. I've enjoyed owning it immensely.

This is an opportunity to completely or sympathetically restore this superb and authentic ship light or to enjoy it as it is. To be functional again, it will need rewiring to today's electrical safety standards. 

It measures 14 inches in height ( with the handles folded down) and has a total diameter of 10 inches or, 335mm x 250mm.
