A quirky Victorian Scholars clear glass ink pot/inkwell. In as found and un-cleaned condition, dusty with dried-out remnants of blue ink inside and the original cork stopper firmly lodged into the top. It has a lovely circular splayed base to prevent tipping, below flat hexagonal tapering sides. Earlier versions of this type of ink bottle are referred to as Umbrella bottles.
A really interesting and delightful piece when on display and a characterful addition to any collection.
Despite its age and utilitarian function, it is free from chips and cracks.
A lovely curio from my own collection. I have it displayed on my bookshelf.
