This is a lovely Shelvey and Co. limited of Brighton stoneware bottle. I really like this little bottle. It has a stunning, creamy-coloured glaze with nice markings and an embossed elliptical stamp to the rear. There are no chips to the rim or neck, and the dark grey makers' marks, etc., are clear and legible.
I adore the registered trademark logo design, which features a spiral seashell and the letters "V,E,Y" encircled in grey.
It has hairline cracks running the full length of its rear side but oddly not on the bottom or the front side. There is no sign of any damage or impact, so I wonder if it occurred during the firing in the manufacturing process.
This adds a little more to the story of this interesting bottle. Sadly, I do not have the stopper.
Apart from the aforementioned problem, it is in great condition. It has the odd graze and scrape but is free from major damage, huge chips, or repairs. It will make a wonderful addition to any collection and is ready for display.
Roughly 7 1/2 inches or 185 mm tall, 2 3/4 inches or 70mm in diameter.
UK delivery is included in the price. Collection from Derby is welcome.
