Purveyors of Curios, Collectables & Fine Tat

A truly beautiful little leather-bound volume in excellent condition. There are no loose pages, all bindings are very tight and there are no tears, rips, or water damage. There is some light rubbing to the corners and apparent signs of light use and shelf time. There are some spotting dust marks, barely foxed.

I do not profess to be an expert on antiquarian books, so if I have missed something that you would like to clarify, please get in touch. I would be delighted to assist.

It has a dedication to John Lodge in black ink dated June 1859. Much later dated ink stamps proclaim "Thomas Edge Grocer Dig Street Ashbourne" in Derbyshire. Also, to the rear of the front board is a remnant of glue, probably once used to attach an owner's bookplate, but now long gone.

This well-known volume is heavily and beautifully illustrated on nearly every one of its 440 pages.

The book measures just shy of 8 inches along its longest edge x 5 1/2 inches and is nearly 1 1/2 inches thick. or 20 x 14.5 x 3.5 cm
